Dr. Yael Ostrovsky is a classicist at the University of Edinburgh whose work focuses on the social lives of ordinary people in the ancient world. She has appeared on Strange Moments in History to discuss Caligula's war on the ocean and the democratic dysfunction of ancient Athens.
Her most recent book examines what archaeological evidence tells us about daily life in Rome that the written sources deliberately omit. She is currently working on a project examining the material culture of Roman Britain.
